NCHRP Report 993: Making Targets Matter: Managing Performance for Decision-Making
This multi-year research project uncovered the people- and data-driven processes and habits that are key to meaningful performance improvement through the use of regular feedback. Insights were gained from performance practitioners through a series of peer exchanges across the country and synthesized into guidance, case studies, a video series, and other resources. The research produced new ways to conceptualize performance along with concrete strategies and tactics that performance professionals at any agency can implement immediately and in the long term to strengthen the frequency and quality of performance-related feedback and institutionalize the most successful processes.
